A sample plan

Day 1 — Acclimatisation in Leh. Rest to acclimatise; evening visit to Shanti Stupa and Leh market.

Day 2 — Sham valley. Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the Sangam.

Day 3 — Khardung La to Nubra. Cross one of the world's highest motorable passes; camel ride at Hunder.

Day 4 — Nubra to Pangong. Drive via Shyok to the shimmering Pangong Tso; overnight in lakeside cottages.

Day 5 — Chang La back to Leh. Return via Chang La, stopping at Thiksey and Hemis monasteries.
