   Day 1 · GangtokArrive at Bagdogra / NJP → Gangtok

   Your driver meets you at Bagdogra airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri station (NJP) for the drive to Gangtok, about 4–5 hours along the Teesta river with a tea break at Teesta Bazaar or Rangpo. Check in at your hotel and relax — Gangtok sits at 5,400 ft, so take it easy on the first evening. If you feel up to it, stroll along pedestrian-only MG Marg for momos and a hot drink.

   Day 2 · GangtokTsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

   An early start for the 38 km climb to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake at 12,400 ft — a glacial lake that is often frozen from January to March. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, the shrine revered by the soldiers who guard this border. Nathu La (Indo-China border pass, open Wednesday to Sunday) can be added on the day, subject to permits and weather. Carry warm layers, sunglasses and your ID — protected-area permits are arranged by us. Back in Gangtok by late afternoon.

   Day 3 · GangtokGangtok sightseeing & ropeway

   A relaxed day exploring Gangtok: Rumtek Monastery (seat of the Karmapa lineage), Do Drul Chorten, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and Banjhakri Falls park. Ride the Gangtok ropeway for views over the town and the Kanchenjunga range on a clear day. Evening free on MG Marg for shopping, cafés and Sikkimese thukpa.

   Day 4 · LachungGangtok → Lachung

   Drive north along the Teesta river to Lachung (about 6–7 hours on mountain roads), stopping at Seven Sisters Waterfall, Bhim Nala Falls and Chungthang, where the Lachen and Lachung rivers meet. Arrive in the apple-orchard village of Lachung (8,600 ft) by evening. Nights are cold here all year, so keep warm clothes handy; dinner at the hotel.

   Day 5 · LachungYumthang Valley & Zero Point

   After an early breakfast, drive to Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft), the "valley of flowers" that blooms with rhododendrons in April–May and is snow-covered in winter. Soak your feet in the natural hot springs by the river. Zero Point (15,300 ft), where the road ends in snowfields, can be added on the day at extra cost, subject to permits and road conditions. Return to Lachung for lunch; the afternoon is free to walk through the village and Lachung Monastery.

   A long but beautiful travel day: drive back down the North Sikkim highway and on to West Sikkim (about 10 hours with breaks), passing Singtam and Ravangla. Pack snacks and water; arrive in Pelling by evening for a hot dinner and early night.

   Day 7 · PellingPelling sightseeing

   Wake early for sunrise over Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak, which towers over Pelling on clear mornings. Visit Pemayangtse Monastery (one of Sikkim's oldest), the ruins of Rabdentse, Sikkim's second royal capital, and walk the glass Skywalk to the Chenrezig statue. In the afternoon, drive to sacred Khecheopalri Lake and Kanchenjunga Falls.

   Day 8 · PellingDeparture

   Breakfast and check out. Drive down to Bagdogra airport or NJP station (about 4–5 hours from Gangtok, longer from Pelling) in time for your onward journey. Keep some cash for road-side tea stops — card acceptance is patchy on the highway.
