The Perfect 6-Day Bali Itinerary for First-Timers

By Meera Nair · 25 Sept 2026 · 7 min read

Why Bali?

Bali blends emerald rice terraces, cliff-top temples and laid-back beach towns. Spend mornings on a swing over the jungle in Ubud, afternoons at Nusa Penida's cliffs and evenings watching the Kecak fire dance at Uluwatu as the sun drops into the Indian Ocean.

When to go

The best time to visit Bali is april to october (dry season). 5–7 nights is ideal for a first trip.

Don't miss

  • Uluwatu Temple
  • Tegallalang Rice Terraces
  • Ulun Danu Bratan
  • Nusa Penida
  • Tanah Lot
  • Mount Batur

A sample plan

Day 1 — Kintamani & Ubud highlights. Drive through Tegallalang rice terraces, see Mount Batur from Kintamani and stop at a coffee plantation to taste kopi luwak.

Day 2 — Nusa Penida island escape. Early speedboat to Nusa Penida: Kelingking "T-Rex" cliff, Broken Beach and Crystal Bay.

Day 3 — Temples of the lakes. Visit the floating Ulun Danu Bratan temple, Handara gate and the Jatiluwih UNESCO terraces.

Day 4 — Uluwatu sunset. Leisure morning, then head to Uluwatu cliffs for the Kecak fire dance at sunset and seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay.

Day 5 — Beach clubs & spa. Free day to enjoy a Balinese massage, shop in Seminyak and relax at a beach club.
